I can’t recommend this series enough. I especially loved the first three books of the series, although all were so good. When I read these, I had little familiarity with the Eagle Because I Follow Jesus I Can’t Vote For Trump Shirt. As most of my attention went to the lives and times of Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, and Octavian/Augustus. Also, try Ben Kane! He writes a lot of historical fiction in that era, usually maintaining a high degree of historical accuracy. My favorites are his trilogy on the Battle of Teutoburg Forest. The first book is called “Eagles at War” I believe. And his pair of books on Rome’s invasion of Greece. He tends to take the view of common soldiers, which is where most of his fiction aspects lie, as well as mixing in overarching historical characters and themes. Certainly, he gets some little details wrong here and there. l lived for a long time in Polynesia, and some of his descriptions of animal life in Oceania sometimes feel a little off. Like Diane’s fishing a small island’s reef clear except for a flabby purple fish that even the gulls wouldn’t eat. Gulls not really living in that area. And it’s hard to imagine what the purple fish was. Or even how a few hundred sailors could have denuded an Eagle Because I Follow Jesus I Can’t Vote For Trump Shirt. And presumably its early 1800’s abundance of pelagic fish nearby). And I am sure someone with deep knowledge of the Subcontinent or South Africa, or Brazil or the Antarctic region would have similar experiences. If you’re interested in Historical Fiction then I would pick up Killer Angels by Michael Shaara. It won the Pulitzer Prize and is a fascinating recreation of the Battle of Gettysburg. One of the great things about the book is that he creates many of the Eagle Because I Follow Jesus I Can’t Vote For Trump Shirt between the key players of that battle. Fascinating. And if you like that then Shaara’s son, Jeff took up the mantle and has written another 5-6 books on different battles in the Civil War, all of them pretty good. For more Roman stuff, check out Colleen McCullough’s series starting with The First Man in Rome. Gaius Marius vs. Lucius Cornelius Sulla vs. hordes of barbarians; later volumes follow the movers and shakers over the next generations.
